With her ‘Empty House’, Brigitte Baillieux delivers an intimate piece here.

Brigitte Baillieux delivers here an intimate piece that questions absence, space, and the memory of a familiar and deserted place, through a poetic and sensitive scenic writing. Born of a friendship and a shared love for words, this piece weaves the portrait of Jeanne, a modest mother, and Louise Bourgeois, a major artist. Two women who have nothing in common but are connected by creation, motherhood, and the desire to tell their stories.

    Two women and some boxes

Jeanne is moving, packing her boxes, and will eventually pack herself up. She has three months to leave the house she has lived in for thirty years. She is a tenant, not an owner. Anyway, ever since her only daughter, Eve-Lin, devastated by a love sorrow, left the house without further notice, Jeanne has started to look into things. But Jeanne is never alone because, for many years, she has made Louise Bourgeois her imaginary friend. A show about maternal love, about women dreaming of a future of equality, about social conditions, and about art as a power of repair and emancipation.
