NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Army has initiated an administrative review after two AH-64 Apache helicopters flew near Kid Rock’s home during a training exercise while the outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump saluted their crews.
Kid Rock shared two videos on social media, showcasing the helicopters hovering close to his swimming pool as he applauds, salutes, and raises his fist in the air. The Nashville skyline serves as the backdrop in the footage.
“This is a level of respect that the Governor of California will never know. God Bless America and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend her,” Kid Rock wrote in his post.
California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, has had public disagreements with the Republican president.
Maj. Jonathon Bless, the public affairs officer for the 101st Airborne Division located at Fort Campbell near the Tennessee-Kentucky border, confirmed that there was no formal request from Kid Rock for the helicopters to visit his residence on Saturday. Training runs over the Nashville area are common for the division’s helicopters.
The helicopters also flew near a Nashville protest against the Trump administration with the slogan “No Kings,” but Bless clarified that the training run was unrelated to the demonstration.
The Army provided a written statement emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety standards, professionalism, and flight regulations. An administrative review is underway to ensure compliance with regulations and airspace requirements, with appropriate action to be taken if any violations are identified.
