Carine Rolland, who spent five years in charge of culture at the office of former Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo, came to support the left-wing and environmentalist candidate for Paris during the presentation of his cultural program last February at La Cigale canteen. Since then, Emmanuel Grégoire has been elected mayor of Paris and has just formed his team of 36 deputies. While Carine Rolland remains in charge of human resources and social dialogue, she is handing over the culture department to stage director, actor, and Paris counselor (PS) in the 15th arrondissement, Florian Sitbon. Born in 1976, Florian Sitbon, who attended the National Superior Conservatory of Dramatic Art, initially worked alongside stage director, screenwriter, and Russian theater professor Piotr Fomenko (1932-2012) before assisting German director Peter Mussbach. He has led several workshops and directed plays such as “Who Stole the Sun?” by José Rivera, “A Slice of Bread” by R.W. Fassbinder, and “Little Catherine” by Heinrich von Kleist. He has also directed recent productions of plays by Dennis Kelly and “Gorge Mastromas.” As a teacher and holder of a state diploma in theater education, he founded the Theater Training Studio in Vitry-sur-Seine in 2006, where he oversees the educational direction, some interpretation courses, and courses preparing for national competitions. In 1997, he founded the Florian Sitbon Company, renamed the Darius Company in 2016. During the 2024 European elections, he publicly supported Raphaël Glucksmann. Appointed in July 2020 following the resignation of Christophe Girard after the revelation of his proximity to writer Gabriel Matzneff, who was then under investigation for “rape of minors”, Carine Rolland, on the other hand, launched a €26 million aid plan for artists and cultural organizations affected by the Covid pandemic and set up the Cultural Olympiad during the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.
