The Petrovietnam Party Committee has issued a plan to implement Program 9 on national defense and security coordination, aimed at improving coordination to protect oil and gas activities while contributing to national sovereignty over the sea and energy security.
Activities related to offshore oil and gas exploration and exploitation are crucial for protecting Vietnam’s sovereignty and economic presence at sea. Offshore oil and gas facilities play an economic and strategic role in national defense and security, according to Petrovietnam.
Petrovietnam collaborates closely with authorities to ensure security of oil and gas infrastructure, while adapting to global energy market fluctuations to maintain a continuous supply of oil and energy for economic and national defense needs.
Ensuring national defense and security is a key aspect of Petrovietnam’s development orientation within the framework of the “5-Year Plan 5” mission, focusing on energy security and national defense.
One essential task is to enhance coordination mechanisms with ministries, agencies, and functional forces to exchange information and ensure security for key oil and gas activities and energy projects.
Petrovietnam is also active in gathering seismic data in Vietnamese waters, evaluating geological characteristics, and developing long-term energy strategies. Research programs are expected to continue until 2030.
Furthermore, Petrovietnam attracts strategic partners for deep-sea exploration and offshore operations to enhance Vietnam’s economic presence in strategically important maritime regions.
In addition to protecting oil and gas installations, Petrovietnam develops energy products for national defense, collaborating on specific fuels like kerosene for defense needs and promoting research on sustainable energy solutions.
