On Sunday, March 29, Iran denounced the American-Israeli bombings on its universities and threatened the United States with retaliation, stating its intention to target American establishments in the Gulf.

The situation in the Middle East has been escalating for a month, following the joint strikes on Tehran, Iran, by the United States and Israel. This led to the elimination of Ayatollah Khamenei and resulted in a war that has caused numerous casualties. In a statement relayed on Sunday, March 29, by Iranian media, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards threaten to target American universities in the Middle East, after reporting the destruction of two universities in Iran by American-Israeli strikes. Iran has also set an ultimatum for the United States.

“If the US government wants its universities in the region to avoid retaliation, it must condemn the bombing of universities in an official statement before Monday, March 30, at noon,” it read. According to reports from Ouest-France, the United States has many universities in the Middle East, including a branch of Georgetown Academy specializing in international relations in Qatar, and the New York University campus in Abu Dhabi.

“We must strike them where they are,” following explosions that shook Tehran on the night of Friday, March 27, hitting the University of Science and Technology, causing significant damage to buildings without any casualties. Iranian employees, professors, and students are advised to stay at least one kilometer away from institutions to prevent the risk of further bombings.

Additionally, Iran threatens to strike hotels in the Middle East where American military personnel stay. On state television, the spokesperson for the armed forces, Abolfazl Shekarchi, said on Thursday, March 26, “Should we just sit idly by and let the Americans strike us? When we retaliate, we must naturally strike them where they are.” Meanwhile, Donald Trump assures that the operation in Iran is progressing well and should soon come to an end.
