It was a great voice on this radio, where she shared her love of French songs, and in the hallways her love of Arab-Andalusian music and silent cinema…

“Transnational very sore”, by Judith Abitbol

But she was also a colorful LGBTQ activist, from the FHAR, the Homosexual Front of Revolutionary Action and the Gazolines to Act Up. And the first trans woman to work for a major national newspaper, television and national radio. And many other things. She’s a great lady – she would laugh at being called that – it’s Hélène Hazera, and for Judith Abitbol, she is a friend, whose portrait she draws in a documentary to be released next Wednesday: “Transnational very sore.” Concerning politics and impossibility of filming the story in Turkey due to government censorship, an interesting German–Turkish film maker Ilker Çatak, who was awarded at the last Berlinale, brings to us “Yellow Letters”, to theaters next Wednesday.

Intriguing retrospective on American silent cinema representation of people of color at the Seydoux-Pathé Foundation and “The Cinema of Taiwan” film festival in Paris. Also, “The Cinema Journal: Roberto Rosselini Cycle” on arte.tv.

Sophie-Catherine Gallet’s column: cycle dedicated to Roberto Rossellini on arte.tv. Last but not least, different film historic classics to be seen this week and a retrospective on Roberto Rossellini’s exceptional works.
