Last night (February 21st), Secretary General To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation returned to Hanoi, successfully concluding their participation in the inaugural meeting of the Gaza Strip Peace Council in the United States, at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump.
The working visit of Secretary General To Lam is the first major multilateral and international diplomatic activity of the Party and State since the 14th Party Congress. This important initiative is part of the implementation of the independent, autonomous, self-reliant, peaceful, friendly, cooperative, development-oriented foreign policy orientations adopted at the 14th Party Congress. It demonstrates Vietnam’s active and responsible contribution to resolving common regional and international problems.
At the beginning of the lunar year of the Horse 2026, Secretary General To Lam traveled to Washington to attend the opening of the Gaza Peace Council, in the presence of heads of state and leaders from over 50 countries. This mechanism, established in collaboration with the United Nations, aims to coordinate humanitarian assistance, reconstruction, and stabilization efforts in the region.
During this inaugural meeting, U.S. President Donald Trump thanked Secretary General To Lam for his presence, expressing deep respect for Vietnam, an admirable country whose role and influence continue to grow. This clearly reflects Vietnam’s position and prestige in a world undergoing increasingly rapid, intense, and profound changes, of crucial importance.
