Boom in Paris Tourism: Record 50 Million Visitors in 2025

Paris, France – The tourism industry in the Paris region is experiencing a historic surge, with over 50 million visitors in 2025, according to Choose Paris Region. This makes it the world’s top tourist destination. The economic impact is significant, with a record 24 billion euros in tourism revenue. However, there are varying local dynamics behind these positive numbers.

International Visitors on the Rise

After a successful 2024, boosted by the Paris Olympics, 2025 saw even better results, especially in terms of international visitors. While French visitors decreased, foreign visitors increased by 3% compared to 2024 and 4% compared to 2019. Their spending also surpassed that of French visitors, with 15.6 billion euros in 2025.

The most represented nationalities were Americans, followed by European neighbors such as the UK, Italy, Germany, and Spain. Airports in the region welcomed 107 million passengers in 2025, a 3% increase from the previous year.

Differences Across Departments

Results varied across departments, with Paris remaining the top performer despite a 2% decrease in visitors from 2024. The Hauts-de-Seine department saw a slight increase, while Val-de-Marne witnessed a 12% rise in visitors. Seine-Saint-Denis, known for the Olympics, experienced a decline in visitors.

Hotels in Paris outperformed those in other departments, indicating a preference for central accommodations. Hotel occupancy rates increased in Paris but decreased in hotels outside the city.

Museum Attendance Numbers

Major museums like the Louvre and Orsay saw increases in visitors, while the Eiffel Tower recorded nearly 450,000 more visitors in 2025 compared to 2024. The Modern Art Museum of Paris witnessed a remarkable 56% surge in visitors.

In the outskirts, the Basilica of Saint-Denis saw a 3% increase in visitors, welcoming 151,000 visitors in 2025.
