With the exception of Spain, the movement against the very dangerous war in the Middle East remains too weak in Europe and beyond. Yet, day after day, the situation worsens, fueled by the “American-Israeli aggression” – in violation of many elements of international law – and by Iranian responses, launching missiles and drones at American interests in the Gulf countries. This Iranian strategy, aimed at pushing these nations to intervene with Trump to stop the bombings in Iran, equally violates international law.
A further step is taken with the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz and the bombings of Iranian energy sites and nuclear laboratories. All still in violation of international law.
Already, a global energy crisis is spreading with formidable consequences for the entire global economy, in a context where indicators of “economic growth” were already stuck at record lows.
The weakness of the people’s movement, popular and anti-war movements, in our countries, is due to the difficulty of articulating a rejection of this war by the harmful American-Israeli duo and support for the Iranian people, youth, women, and workers in search of a perspective of liberation and emancipation against the ruthless and criminal Islamic theocracy.
