Vietnam’s Secretary General To Lam participated in the opening meeting of the Gaza Peace Council, at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, president of the Gaza Peace Council. This multilateral activity aims to implement the foreign policy guidelines of the Party on independence, autonomy, internal strength, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, as well as to actively contribute to peace, cooperation, and sustainable development. Vietnam’s active involvement in the council is in line with the Party’s foreign policy, aiming to enhance the country’s prestige and image internationally.
The inaugural meeting of the Gaza Peace Council gathered leaders from over 50 countries to coordinate humanitarian aid, reconstruction, and stabilization efforts in Gaza with the United Nations. US President Trump commended Secretary General To Lam’s participation, expressing deep respect for Vietnam and recognizing its growing international prestige.
Vietnam’s consistent position is to resolve all disputes peacefully based on international law, the UN Charter, and respect for the legitimate rights and interests of all parties involved. The country’s participation in the Gaza Peace Council is part of its commitment to ending the conflict in Gaza, protecting civilians, ensuring humanitarian access, rebuilding essential infrastructure, and promoting a credible political process for lasting peace in the Middle East.
The media has praised Vietnam’s involvement in the council, highlighting the country’s active contribution to global peace and stability. After 30 years of normalized relations, Vietnam and the US have become global strategic partners for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development. Secretary General To Lam’s meetings with various leaders during the visit aimed to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation in key areas such as science, technology, digital transformation, aviation, and health. The total value of contracts and cooperation agreements signed during the visit amounts to $37.2 billion, enhancing the strong, concrete relationship between Vietnam and the US.
Moving forward, Vietnam will conduct specific research to identify areas where it can participate and make tangible contributions, focusing on peacekeeping operations and humanitarian relief in Gaza. This proactive approach will help elevate Vietnam’s international relations, aligning with the country’s strategic objectives and its commitment to peace and development on the global stage.
