Wilson Isidor is heading to the World Cup. A few months ago, Haiti secured a historic qualification for the upcoming World Cup to be held from June 11 to July 19, the first since 1974. For their final international break before the competition, the Haitian Football Federation decided to add three new players to their squad, including the striker from Sunderland who was trained at Stade Rennais.
Although Isidor (25 years old) has never been called up to the senior French national team by Didier Deschamps, he honed his skills with the French youth teams up to the U20 level but had not represented France since 2019 despite being called up to the U21 team in 2022.
For his future career, Wilson Isidor has chosen to join the national team of his origin country. With Haiti, he will face Tunisia and Iceland in friendly matches and should, barring injury by June, participate in the World Cup for the first time against top nations: Brazil and Morocco, after starting against Scotland.
Perfect timing.
