As part of its commitment to women’s health and dignity, Soroptimist International Agen (SIAgen) organized a collection of hygiene and menstrual hygiene products for female students attending the French Red Cross student grocery store.
Thanks to the support of Intermarché de Roquefort and the generosity of the people of Roquefort, many essential products were gathered. These donations will be used to create 13 packages that will be handed over to the Red Cross soon to meet the concrete needs of young women in precarious situations. “We had a very successful collection. Thanks to the people of Roquefort who participated, and to the Intermarché team for their support,” explains Marie-France Meneghello, the president of Soroptimist International Agen. This action falls within the Health sector defended by Soroptimist International, which works for the improvement of women and girls’ living conditions. It is under its health program that the Agen club organized this collection, in partnership with the French Red Cross.
“The purpose of this collection is to support all young women in precarious situations. Some students face financial difficulties that limit their ability to purchase hygiene products, especially menstrual products,” concludes Marie-France Meneghello.
As a reminder, Soroptimist International has five main areas of commitment: education, women’s empowerment, combating violence against women, health, and the environment. Through this initiative, the members of the Agen club emphasize that access to hygiene products is a fundamental necessity and a matter of dignity.
