Kamal Kharazi, foreign policy advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader, stated on Monday that Tehran is capable of resisting Israeli-American strikes for a long time because “the Iranian army is very powerful (…) and motivated.” The idea of a diplomatic resolution to the war in the Middle East was dismissed by a foreign policy advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei. In an interview with CNN on Monday, March 9, Kamal Kharazi said he “sees no room for diplomatic dialogue” with the United States.
“We have noticed on two occasions during negotiations where we were engaged in talks and they attacked us,” regretted Kharazi speaking to American colleagues. “Donald Trump has deceived his people and not kept his promises,” he added, according to Mojtaba Khamenei’s advisor.
Kamal Kharazi believes this war poses “an existential threat” to Iran, which is why the regime of the Mullahs “must maintain (its) current position with the same firmness.” However, does Tehran have the means to withstand Israeli-American strikes for a long time? On this point, Kharazi believes that “the Iranian army is very powerful (…) and motivated.” On the other hand, Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of the United States Central Command, listed the damage inflicted by the US military last Thursday. According to him, 30 Iranian ships were sunk in the first six days of the conflict. Cooper also noted a 90% decrease in ballistic missile attacks and an 83% decrease in drone attacks in the last 24 hours.
Donald Trump stated on Monday that the war was “almost” over, claiming that Iran no longer had a “navy,” “communications,” or “air force.” In a phone interview with CBS, the American president also said that the conflict was “far ahead” of the four to five-week timeline he had previously mentioned.
