An international Taekwondo Open is taking place in Longvic this weekend.
Organized by CSP Dijon Taekwondo, the event marks an important milestone for the development of the discipline in the region. The competition is being held at the Véronique Pèqueux-Rolland sports complex, a facility suitable for hosting major sports events. The city of Longvic is actively involved in the organization of this Open, in collaboration with local sports entities.
Two days of competition open to all
The international Taekwondo Open is free for the public to attend. Spectators can witness the fights throughout the weekend. The organizers aim to provide an inclusive event for martial arts enthusiasts and the curious alike. Various age categories will feature a diverse range of participants, from juniors to seniors.
The weekend program
The competition kicks off on Friday, April 10th with weigh-ins for junior and senior categories at the end of the day. On Saturday, April 11th, fights will take place from 9 am to 6:30 pm, followed by an awards ceremony in the evening. Weigh-ins for minors and cadets will also be held in the afternoon.
Sunday, April 12th will focus on the younger participants, with benjamin, minor, and cadet categories competing from 9 am to 5 pm, followed by an awards ceremony. Doors open to the public at 7:30 am each day.
A first edition with potential longevity
With several hundred participants expected, this first edition of the International Open labeled Bourgogne-Franche-Comté could establish a lasting presence in the Taekwondo calendar. The event is supported by the French Federation of Taekwondo and Associated Disciplines, the regional league, as well as local authorities including the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region and the Côte-d’Or Department.
Beyond the competition, the goal is also to raise awareness of Taekwondo among the general public in the region.
