During an interview on April 8th with the correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in Switzerland, international journalist Jean Musy, editor-in-chief of Radio Zones, expressed his belief that the election results for leadership positions clearly reflect Vietnam’s focus on political stability and continued economic reforms in the upcoming period.

According to Jean Musy, the election of key leaders for the 2026-2031 term demonstrates the commitment to maintaining political stability, ensuring governance continuity, and promoting economic reforms under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. This helps to strengthen the confidence of markets and foreign investors, especially in a global context facing multiple crises and economic challenges.

Addressing immediate priorities, Jean Musy suggested that developments in the Middle East necessitate ensuring a stable energy supply. The current situation affects the plans of many countries and underscores the continued key role of energy in economic stability. In the long term, Vietnam should focus on strategic issues such as improving the quality of youth vocational training, promoting innovation and technological development, accelerating energy transition linked to environmental protection, and addressing population aging. Additionally, reducing social inequalities and ensuring balanced development are also essential requirements in a rapidly changing world.

Discussing foreign policy, Jean Musy noted that international changes could impact Vietnam. The Vietnamese diplomacy, known for its flexibility, may face numerous challenges in a context of increasing strategic rivalry among major powers, particularly as China and the United States’ economic interests show both convergences and rivalries. He warned of the risk that Vietnam may have to make strategic choices sooner than expected, despite efforts to diversify partnerships and international economic agreements.

Moreover, the upward trend in US interest rates, which may spread to Europe, and the complex developments in the East Sea related to sovereignty and resources issues, also exert additional pressure on Vietnam’s governance. In this context, leaders must leverage the country’s internal resources while adapting flexibly to an increasingly interconnected and interdependent global environment, where competition among major powers continues to have an impact.

Overall, according to journalist Jean Musy’s assessment, Vietnam’s new leadership term will present numerous opportunities but also significant challenges, requiring a harmonious combination of internal stability, economic reforms, and diplomatic flexibility to ensure sustainable development in the years ahead.
