The journalism page seems to have definitively turned for Audrey Pulvar, who was promoted on March 29, 2026, as “responsible for international relations, Europe, and Francophonie.” The Paris Council approved this proposal from Emmanuel Grégoire, the new mayor of the capital, succeeding Anne Hidalgo.
The socialist had already appointed the Martinican to her side during the previous term, as an assistant “in charge of agriculture, local short circuits, and sustainable food.”
Audrey Pulvar expressed, “So I will have the honor of being the face of Paris internationally – on behalf of the capital’s mayor – and the responsibility of representing Paris in global city networks, particularly on major issues such as ecological transition, mobility, environmental health, respect for human rights, and diplomacy. I will try to be worthy of it.”
She also mentioned her commitment to “advocate for more social justice, real equality, access to rights at the European level, and to make Francophonie shine in the world.”
Describing herself as an “ecofeminist” on the left, Pulvar also celebrated being “the first woman [and] first Black woman to hold these positions.”
Reflecting on her journey and the challenges faced, Pulvar remarked, “At the time of taking on this role, my thoughts went to my mother, my maternal grandparents, my sisters, my daughter, and my grandson, but also to all those who resemble me and who, like me, do not have the codes, networks, or possessions that pave the way for many. With our skin color and unwavering determination, what do we have? Life, freedom, faith in oneself.”
In addition to her political role, Audrey Pulvar has become a prominent figure in the French capital and has gradually found a taste for it after a career of more than 25 years in the media (ATV, France 2, France 3, France Inter, the Canal Plus Group, LCI, les Inrocks, I-Télé).
Approaching her 54th birthday and fueled by her claimed inexhaustible energy, one can speculate that Audrey Pulvar secretly harbors other political ambitions. Could a seat in parliament be on her radar for the coming years? Only time will tell.
