On Wednesday, April 1st, Donald Trump claimed to have asked France for help in unblocking the Strait of Hormuz. The phone call proved unsuccessful, and the American president complained about it at a press conference at the White House.
Another jab from the White House. American President Donald Trump once again targeted Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday, March 1st, in a speech a few hours before his address to the American nation.
The President of the United States referred to the blow delivered by Brigitte Macron to the face of the President of the Republic in May 2025, during a tour in Southeast Asia.
“His wife treats him very badly, he is barely recovering from the blow he received in the jaw,” he taunted right away.
The purpose of the discussion between Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron was – according to the White House tenant – to obtain France’s assistance in taking control of the Strait of Hormuz, where maritime traffic is blocked by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“Emmanuel, we would like to have a little help in the Gulf, even if we break all the records, eliminate the bad guys, and destroy the ballistic missiles (…). Could you send warships immediately?” Donald Trump reportedly demanded.
But according to the American president, Emmanuel Macron refused, responding that France could send ships “once the war is won.” A refusal that Donald Trump did not accept, and to which he said he responded, “No, no, I don’t need it when the war is over, Emmanuel.”
Donald Trump stated a few hours later that the Strait of Hormuz was not his problem. “If France or another country wants to have their oil or gas, they will go straight through the Strait of Hormuz (…) and they will figure it out themselves,” the American leader declared. “We have nothing to do with it. What happens in the strait does not concern us.”
Emmanuel Macron reiterated on Wednesday that France had “not been consulted” on the launch of the war by the United States and Israel against Iran, and that it was “not taking part.”
