The Tunisian national football team continues to climb in the FIFA world rankings. The latest ranking places the Eagles of Carthage at the 44th position worldwide, which is a gain of three places compared to the previous edition. In Africa, Tunisia now occupies the 7th position, behind Morocco, Senegal, Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt, and Ivory Coast.

A preparation that pays off

This progress is explained mainly by the recent friendly matches played in Canada as part of the preparation for the 2026 World Cup. Tunisia first secured a narrow victory against Haiti (1-0), before settling for a draw (0-0) against Canada. These performances have helped the Eagles of Carthage consolidate their position on the international stage.

The Eagles of Carthage are now ranked 7th in Africa, following Morocco (the top African team and 8th globally), Senegal (14th globally), Nigeria (26th globally), Algeria (29th globally), Egypt (31st globally), and Ivory Coast (34th globally).

Recent journey and perspectives

Prior to these matches, Tunisia had a mixed record in the Arab Cup, with a victory against Qatar (3-0), a loss to Syria (0-1), and a draw against Palestine (2-2).

At the top of the world rankings, France claims the first place with 1877.32 points, surpassing Spain (1876.40 points), while Argentina completes the podium. Morocco remains the top African representative, ranked 8th globally.
