The Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, promotes ambitious South-South cooperation based on balanced, sustainable, and mutually beneficial partnerships, breaking away from aid. In a global context of evolving balances, the Kingdom has emerged as a key player in dynamics among Southern countries. As the Guest of Honor at the 11th Summit of the Organization of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, from March 27 to 29, Morocco, represented by Nasser Bourita, reaffirmed its strategic role on the international stage.

“Under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco has made the strategic, consistent, and irreversible choice to anchor itself in Africa and engage in South-South cooperation not as a slogan, but as a fundamental doctrine of its foreign policy.” – Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Morocco

This symbolic recognition underscores Morocco’s continued commitment to African, Caribbean, and Pacific countries. Economically and agriculturally, Morocco stands out for its support in food security efforts in Africa, providing over 200,000 tonnes of fertilizers in 2022 and 364,000 tonnes at preferential rates, as well as for the Caribbean, according to Minister Nasser Bourita.

“A doctrine that emphasizes partnership over aid. A doctrine that goes beyond exclusive bilateral frameworks towards a diverse, integrated, and dynamic vision for partnerships.” – Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Morocco

Morocco calls for strengthening the OACPS to promote a more equitable global economic order, embodying this vision since 1999 through sustained cooperation, with over 1,607 agreements signed, 52 royal visits to Africa, and strong human commitment, evident in the training of over 19,400 foreign students and more than 40,220 graduates from partner countries.
