At 52 years old, Vikash Dhorasoo is taking the plunge. The former French international (18 caps, 1 goal) and 2006 World Cup runner-up has stated in an interview with L’Équipe his wish to become a head coach, after serving as an assistant at Paris 13 Atletico in N1 this season. The former Paris Saint-Germain player, who will officially be certified in June, is eager to take charge of a team. “It was not at all planned to become a coach, but discussing football regularly, analyzing, commenting, giving my opinion on everything, pushed me to think that I should go for it, get involved a little,” he explains.
“I went to India four and a half years ago and was asked to coach girls there. I tapped into my memories, set up a small session, and enjoyed it (…) My goal? To be a head coach, because I feel ready to take on a high-level team, manage a staff, and embark on a human adventure. I already have people around me to form this staff. The level I would like to coach? Ligue 1, Ligue 2, or a National team with a big project and at the top of the table. It’s the high level that interests me, and that’s where I think I can contribute something. I noticed that very few former internationals have chosen to become coaches. We are not well represented in getting coaching certificates. I want to represent these former internationals.”
