This weekend, seven young people from the Figeac Karate Club headed to the capital for the international full-contact Open organized at the National Judo Institute. A major event in the discipline that brought together participants from all over France and abroad, and it’s safe to say that the Figeacois did not make this trip for nothing.

From Saturday, in the Benjamin category (-50 kg), Samuel Tarrago made a strong impact. Incredibly, for his first participation at this level, the young Figeacois emerged victorious with authority and claimed a superb gold medal. A performance full of mastery that kick-started the Lot weekend.

In the Cadet category, Jimmy Solomon did not manage to advance past the first round despite his total commitment. However, Martin Lory (-70 kg) stood out by stepping onto the third step of the podium and bringing back a beautiful bronze medal to Lot.

On Sunday, it was time for the Juniors, the bearers of medal hopes. While Yanis Perot couldn’t pass the first round, David Balint (-75 kg) and Zohan Chenut-Destruel (-80 kg) reached the direct final and each won a silver medal, confirming the group’s progress.

President Guillaume Lory praised the “exceptional mindset and commitment” of the young participants, as well as the work of coaches Jason Hugel and Frantz Montussac. A successful trip to Paris that confirms the momentum of the Figeac club.
