On the morning of Friday, March 20th, the parking lot of the company MJ2 Technologie quickly filled up for the Open Factory Days in which the manufacturer of hydroelectric equipment was participating.

At 9 am, Martin Rey, one of the 6 directors of the company, initiated this dynamic morning by welcoming job seekers from France travail Millau and Clermont-l’Hérault, before being joined by school visitors and the general public. The group of 16 people who gathered throughout the morning were able to thoroughly explore the different parts that make up the equipment produced on site. “We pass by regularly but we don’t know what’s being done here,” the visitors commented. Valves, turbines, hubs, electromagnetic fields, generators, blades – at the end of the tour of the workstations, machines, and storage areas, the professional vocabulary held no secrets for the participants. Around a snack provided by the company, they were able to ask the final questions, particularly about the sites in Creissels and Troussy, and the content of the annual order book, consisting of orders for new equipment as well as maintenance contracts for existing installations.

Discovery of expert trades in the region

Located in La Cavalerie since April 1, 2004, the company, acquired in 2023 by three of its executives, has continued to evolve since. Its roadmap, at the time of the acquisition, was based on a desire to relocate part of its production in France and work with local suppliers to improve quality and communication. The challenge has been met as the company now mainly collaborates with local actors: Aveyron, Tarn, Ariège, Rhône at the farthest, except for magnets for which they source from China due to lack of local manufacturing options. By participating in the JUO event, led by the Society of Engineers in Arts and Crafts and its partners, including the Millau CCI, their involvement helps showcase a modern, innovative, and responsible industry, attentive to ecosystems. Men, women, and future students were able to discover the nature of these trades, diverse, qualified, and accessible to all levels. Raising awareness about industrial waste, compliance with standards, and safety equipment, the professionals from the country’s leading source of renewable electricity, often underestimated, convinced and debunked preconceived ideas during this sharing session.
