Barcelona almost started the second half of their match against Atletico Madrid on Saturday at the “Wanda Metropolitano” stadium, during the 30th day of the Liga, with a numerical disadvantage, when the referee showed a red card to Barcelona defender Gerard Martin in the 46th minute.
The referee showed a straight red card to the young defender, after a violent tackle in the middle of the field, during which he kicked Tiago Almada’s leg, an Atletico player.
But the referee reversed his decision after reviewing the action with the help of video technology, which showed that Martin had first kicked the ball before hitting his opponent’s foot.
The referee canceled the red card he had given to the Barcelona player, opting to give him a yellow card instead.
Atletico player Nico Gonzalez had already been expelled before the end of the first half.
