A new loss for the United States. This Friday, April 3, two US Air Force planes were shot down. The first crashed while flying over central Iran. Iran claimed to have hit a second one in the Persian Gulf region, as reported later by the New York Times.

The A-10 Warthog crashed near the Strait of Hormuz at the same time the F-15E of the US Air Force was shot down, according to US sources. The pilot of the A-10 reportedly entered Kuwaiti airspace before ejecting before the crash.

The second pilot of the F-15 is still missing.

Earlier in the day, Iran announced a reward for anyone finding the two pilots involved in the first crash. This is the first time American military personnel have gone missing in Iran and are at risk of being captured.

According to an American official quoted by NBC, two American Blackhawk helicopters were hit by Iranian fire during the search operation for the two F-15 pilots. Slightly injured, they were rescued and one crew member was found, while the other remains missing.

Only one person was on board the A-10 Warthog near the Strait of Hormuz, as per the New York Times. This individual was rescued and is also safe and sound.
