The exhibition “Entre leurs mains, les sciences” by Alys Blanc opened in Hennebont, Morbihan, aims to help children and young people better envision careers in science. The exhibit offers keys to understanding the fascinating world of science to individuals of all ages and backgrounds, regardless of their scientific training. By focusing on the gender disparities in career choices from a young age, the exhibition sheds light on various scientific fields.

Alys Blanc chose photography as a medium to showcase the diversity of scientific professions that may seem inaccessible at first. Visitors will explore various science-related careers through different perspectives, starting with photographs taken at scientists’ workplaces to show their hands-on work. The exhibition also includes educational materials such as guidebooks, booklets, and interactive family tours featuring objects like naturalized piranhas, herbarium sheets, drawings, and prehistoric seashells. Additionally, a video documents the exhibition’s creation.

Part of the “Blavet au naturel” initiative, the exhibition aligns with themes of water and biodiversity organized by Blavet terres & eaux and Lorient Agglomération over ten days. In collaboration with the University of Lorient (UBS), the exhibition “Entre leurs mains, les sciences” highlights careers related to these themes, such as hydrology engineers and biologists.

As part of the educational project, student visits have been arranged to emphasize that scientific careers are equally accessible to both girls and boys. Researchers from UBS have tailored a scientific program to engage youth, especially young girls, through daily workshops.

On Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 11 a.m., the exhibition will be showcased at the Eugène-Guillevic Media Library in Hennebont in collaboration with Alys Blanc and project partners. For more information, contact 02 97 36 53 02.
