The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature in Bradenton, Florida is preparing to offer a unique experience for space enthusiasts eager to witness the Artemis II rocket launch on Wednesday evening. Visitors can look forward to live viewing, immersive programming, and interactive learning opportunities.
Hannah Sparkes, the planetarium supervisor at the museum, described the experience as fully immersive, allowing guests to feel the intensity of the rocket launch as if they were in space. The planetarium dome screen is designed to create a stargazing show that replicates the feeling of being in space.
The museum will stream the launch inside the planetarium and feature a new show highlighting NASA’s efforts to return to the Moon as part of the Artemis missions. Museum staff are also capturing new visuals from the launch site for future programs.
Additionally, the museum is encouraging visitors to engage with educational activities and artifacts related to the mission, including meteorites dating back 4.6 billion years. Sparkes mentioned upcoming events such as “Sidewalk Astronomy” and a new planetarium show titled “Mars: The Ultimate Voyage” to continue exploring the wonders of space.
