Luck Reunion Blends Music and Science at Annual Event
Every year, the Luck Reunion takes place at Willie Nelson’s private ranch in Luck, Texas, just outside Austin. This year marked the 14th annual festival organized by Luck Presents, featuring performances from various artists including St. Vincent, Booker T. Jones, and of course, Willie Nelson himself.
The event, held in March during SXSW, attracted around 4,000 people for an intimate concert experience on Nelson’s iconic property. Luck Reunion also featured Potluck, a pre-event dinner, fundraiser, and concert, as well as other events throughout the year.
In 2026, the festival welcomed the CERN Festival Programme and the University of Texas at Austin for a day of science talks and workshops. CERN, known for its Large Hadron Collider, collaborated with Luck to bring science to the forefront of the music festival.
Luck’s founder, Matt Bizer, explained that the idea of integrating science into the event was a natural progression, building on their Community Conversations stage. The addition of industry-leading scientists and science-themed activities opened new perspectives for attendees.
Throughout Europe, CERN has successfully introduced science stages at various music festivals, engaging audiences with hands-on workshops and discussions on topics like particle physics and global warming. Luck Reunion in the US was no exception, with renowned scientists and performers blending music with science on stage.

Scientists like Dorit Chrysler and David Williams offered interactive workshops, giving festivalgoers the opportunity to learn more about cutting-edge research in a fun and accessible way.
