Vendée SPORT. The department of Vendée launches the construction of a new House of Sports
A new House of Sports for the sports committees of Vendée
As the main sports partner in Vendée, the Department of Vendée supports athletes, clubs, departmental committees, and sports event organizers on a daily basis in the region. Since 1995, the Department of Vendée has provided the CDOS and departmental committees with a House of Sports on Boulevard Aristide Briand in La Roche-sur-Yon, which has become inadequate.
Sport in Vendée includes over 1,800 clubs and more than 186,000 licensees in the department. To support the growth of this sports movement, the Department of Vendée has assessed the needs of the Olympic and Sports Departmental Committee of Vendée and all the committees hosted at the House of Sports in order to:
– Accommodate more committees in the premises, – Expand offices and meeting spaces, – Increase storage space for sports equipment, – Allow for more simultaneous meetings, – Organize activities and events on the premises, – Offer exhibitions in the hall.
Among the most critical needs expressed is the expansion of storage space for the sports equipment of committees. Currently, the House of Sports has 274m² of storage, while over 900m² is desired. The future building will address this crucial need for the committees’ daily activities. At present, the House of Sports, located near the Pentagon of La Roche-sur-Yon, houses 27 sports committees, including the CDOS Vendée, and approximately 80 employees and volunteers work daily in the premises.
In the future premises, 5 new committees will be welcomed, bringing the total number of entities in the future House of Sports to 33, including a Tennis Committee, Sailing Committee, USEP, Chess Committee, and Corporate Sports. This is why the Department of Vendée is launching the construction of a new House of Sports in La Roche-sur-Yon. The architectural firm Pelleau and Associés Architectes, based in La Roche-sur-Yon, has been selected for this project. The Department has focused on a project that meets all the needs of the users and ensures the sustainability of the project and a good synergy between all possible uses of the building.
