Ligue 2: Bastia irritated by relocation

The Sporting Club de Bastia has confirmed the relocation of their next match against Amiens. This decision confirms the ongoing sanctions and could directly impact ASSE’s upcoming visit in the coming weeks.

The situation is becoming clearer for Bastia. In a statement released on Friday, the Corsican club confirmed that the match against Amiens, scheduled for April 3, will take place at the Paul-Lignon stadium in Rodez. This is a direct consequence of the sanction imposed by the disciplinary committee, with a closed-door match and a neutral ground. This concrete signal could indicate a trend for the future.

Bastia is forced to exile itself

Bastia had to urgently find a viable solution to host this match in a very short time frame. The club also thanked Rodez and the local authorities for their reactivity.

Behind this organization, the message is clear: the sanction is real and already being enforced.

The Sporting Club did not hide its annoyance. In their statement, the club denounced a decision deemed severe, especially in an already fragile economic context. Playing far from Furiani, without their supporters, represents a real handicap:

“The Sporting Club nevertheless deplores the severity of the decision taken against them, the consequences of which appear particularly penalizing in an already fragile economic context for French football. Forced to play away from Furiani and deprived of the support of its fans, the club intends to face the challenges ahead and remains fully mobilized to defend its colors.”

ASSE directly affected

This relocation inevitably raises a question: what will happen with the match against ASSE, scheduled for April 18?

At this stage, nothing is official yet. But a trend is emerging. If the sanction is maintained or extended after the disciplinary committee meeting on April 8, the Greens could also avoid playing at Furiani.

This scenario is far from neutral. Playing Bastia at home is completely different from a match on neutral ground. The atmosphere, the pressure, the context – everything changes. For Saint-Étienne, this could turn a reputedly tricky away game into a more manageable opportunity.

Everything will now be decided in the coming days. The final decision of the disciplinary committee is expected on April 8.

Until then, Bastia continues to contest the sanction and explore all possible avenues, including an appeal. However, the club is already anticipating the sporting and logistical consequences.

The choice of Rodez for Amiens is proof of this. For ASSE, the trip to Corsica may never happen. This could completely change the dynamics in the race for objectives.
