Context: PSG wanted to reschedule their Ligue 1 match to ensure fairness amidst their Champions League fixtures.

RC Lens aims to defend their chances in a fair manner. The club criticized the request to move the match against PSG set on April 11th, an inconvenient date for Parisians between their two games against Liverpool. If postponed, the match might take place between the 33rd and 34th day of the 9th and 16th May, the final window without mid-week European competitions. RC Lens rejects this possibility to avoid a 15-day competition break followed by a tight match schedule every three days. PSG and Lens are only one point apart in Ligue 1 standings, although Paris has a postponed match. RC Lens accuses the league of favoring European interests over domestic fairness.

In response, PSG assures compliance with the league’s decision and recalls that other clubs have benefited from similar postponements. The French clubs’ successful European campaigns also bolster their UEFA ranking. France ranks sixth, enhancing the country’s representation. The LFP will convene to decide on the match date, including Strasbourg’s requested postponement against Brest amid their Conference League quarter-finals against Mainz.
