The Paris Saint-Germain officially requested the postponement of their game against Lens scheduled for April 11 at 5:00 PM, in order to better prepare for their Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool. However, Lens has expressed their desire not to reschedule the match.
Lens made it clear to PSG from the beginning that they did not want the date changed. The club explained that they initially wanted to keep quiet about the issue to avoid disturbing the team, but felt compelled to speak out due to recent comments and suggestions.
Lens raised concerns about their schedule, as they are still competing for the league title and in the French Cup. A postponement would mean not playing for 15 days and then facing three matches in one week.
The club criticized the idea of smaller clubs having to adapt to the demands of larger ones, stating that it is unfair and goes against the spirit of domestic football.
The decision on whether the match will be postponed will be known on Thursday. The LFP regulations state that the board is the only body authorized to decide on rescheduling matches in exceptional circumstances. Lens may not have a concrete way to prevent the postponement. A response is expected on Thursday.
