It is the usual unveiling preceding a major competition. The French national team’s equipment supplier revealed on Monday, March 23, the two jerseys that the players of the French national team will wear during the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico (from June 11 to July 19). With some novelty that is likely to stir discussions.

Regarding the traditional blue jersey, adorned with a white collar “combining heritage and modernity with a reminder of the phrase ‘Nos différences nous unissent’ (Our differences unite us), present in the collar since 2011,” as per Nike’s statement, the American firm opted for an away jersey in colors never before worn by the French team. The away jersey is in a green-gray color that “directly inspired by the oxidized copper of the Statue of Liberty, whose patina is globally recognizable,” according to the statement. This is why it is named “liberté” (liberty). Shorts and socks will also be of this color.

The two jerseys will have in common this oxidized copper inspired by the Statue of Liberty, as the brand logo will be in this color on the blue jersey, which will be worn with white shorts and red socks. The “repetitive FFF motif” that can be seen on this jersey is “inspired by speed (…) bringing movement and modernity in echo with the energy of this team.”
