From U16 to Espoirs, Thomas Didillon has been part of the French international scene, poised to make his mark in Ligue 1. He was first noticed in the 2016/2017 season with Metz, before pursuing most of his career in Belgium.
In 2024, he made the decision to join Willem II in the Netherlands, a team relegated to the second division after his first year. However, Didillon will soon return to the Eredivisie next season, as he helped his team secure immediate promotion. After a 2-1 defeat to Volendam in the first leg of the playoff, Willem II won on penalties this Saturday in the return leg (3-3 aggregate score, 4-5 on penalties). The hero? Thomas Diallon, with a crucial save and the winning penalty. “I took one in training yesterday and it was positive. I thought about my daughter, born a week ago, and ultimately, football is just a game,” the 30-year-old goalkeeper told ESPN.
