In the pursuit of Oslo, Lou Jeanmonnot grabbed the small globe of the specialty, in a race won by Hanna Oeberg in a sprint finish ahead of Julia Simon.
Lou Jeanmonnot continues to shine with crystal! Having won the big globe on Thursday, the French biathlete grabbed the sixth small globe of her career, that of the pursuit, which she has won for the second consecutive year. The 27-year-old from Franc-Comte finished fourth this Saturday in Oslo, where the last stage of the season is taking place. And that was enough for her to be crowned ahead of Suvi Minkkinen, who finished 23rd in this race won by Hanna Oeberg.
Simon quickly catches up to H.Oeberg
Winner of the sprint on Thursday, the Swedish athlete engaged in a magnificent duel with Julia Simon, who had started in fourth place, 38 seconds behind her. Upon reaching the first shooting range with a 41-second lead over the Frenchwoman, Hanna Oeberg made two errors while Simon hit all five targets to leave ahead, with an eight-second lead over Hanna Oeberg and 15 over Lisa Vittozzi and the other Oeberg sister, Elvira. But everything was reset to zero during the second shooting, where Simon and Hanna Oeberg both hit all targets and left the shooting range together, 20 seconds ahead of Elvira Oeberg and Ingrid Tandrevold.
A beautiful duel
The scenario repeated itself during the third shooting, with a new 5/5 from both rivals, who then had a 27-second lead over Elvira Oeberg and a 1’02 lead on Lou Jeanmonnot, who started with a 52-second delay and made a mistake. The final shooting did not separate the lead duo, as both biathletes made a mistake. The victory would come down to skiing, and it was in the sprint that Hanna Oeberg emerged victorious. The Swedish athlete attacked a few kilometers from the finish line and slightly pushed the Frenchwoman in the lane before winning. Simon hit her ski on the ground in frustration upon crossing the finish line, aware that she had narrowly missed a new victory, but she immediately went to congratulate the winner. Elvira Oeberg completed the podium, 23 seconds behind, while Lou Jeanmonnot finished 57 seconds behind the winner, but the main goal was achieved. On Sunday, the season will conclude with a mass start!
