Charly, a versatile player for Boulazac A little atypical for a position that combines recovery and organization, where we are used to meeting tough and athletic boys, Charly stands out with finesse. In fact, as he points out, he has only received one red card since he started playing. “I like this position because it allows me to be very active and touch many balls,” he confides. “I can use one of my strong points, which in my opinion, is the quality of passing in the build-up.” Depending on the team’s needs, he can play a step higher, just behind the attackers. This was the case in the 3-4 victory against Bayonne, where he scored the opening goal in the fifteenth minute. One of his four goals this season.

Memorable moments He did not have the opportunity to score during the sixth round of the Coupe de France against Girondins de Bordeaux, at the end of October in Périgueux. A match at the Rongiéras stadium that remains his greatest football memory for now, “an unforgettable moment.” Another great experience was making his debut in National 2 with Trélissac in May 2023, in a 3-0 victory against Angers’ reserve team. Before joining Boulazac, Charly played for five seasons with the Trélissac reserve team in R1. “I signed my first license with TFC at 13 years old,” he adds.

Earlier, he started playing football in La Chapelle-Faucher at the age of six. “In primary school, I met Rachid Kerkri for the first time: he came to teach football as part of his professional activity,” Charly recalls. “He must have thought I was doing well because he advised me to join the Trélissac football school.” He reunited with his coach in U14 and U15, then with the national U19 team, before crossing paths again in Boulazac. “And now we work together as sports coaches in the department,” Charly jokes.

They also share a love for tennis and padel, although Charly puts this summer sport aside to focus on football. That’s a good thing because with 22 points in sixteen games, Boulazac’s survival in the league is still uncertain with ten games left. But Charly remains confident: “The group has strengthened in recent weeks and we are more competitive.” To be confirmed this Saturday night…
