Despite their victory at home against Hapoel Holon on Wednesday night (102-92), Le Mans has been eliminated from the Champions League. MSB may have some regrets.
MSB knew they did not hold their destiny in their hands on Wednesday night for a spot in the Champions League quarterfinals. Unfortunately, it did not work out for the Sarthois. The Sarthois club had done the job early in the evening at Antares on the occasion of the sixth and final day with a ten-point lead (102-92). But that was not the only condition to secure the precious pass for the rest of the competition, as almost at the same time, Vilnius had to lose in Turkish lands against Galatasaray. This scenario did not unfold as the visitors won (81-90).
With these two results, Vilnius takes the lead in Group I with 10 points for a record of four wins and two losses, the same record as Galatasaray and Le Mans…
Two missteps
Against Hapoel Holon, MSB made a significant impact from the beginning of the match with 62 points scored in the first two quarters. Thanks to this momentum, the Manceaux, perfectly led by the quartet of Bastien Grasshoff (17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists), TaShawn Thomas (16 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists), Trevor Hudgins (14 points, 1 rebound, 7 assists), and Travante Williams (14 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists), won the second part of the match by ten points. In vain, the Sarthois club may even have some regrets in this Champions League because not only did Galatasaray almost beat Vilnius but also MSB had two avoidable losses before this Wednesday.
