More than 2.5 hours per week
All patients filled out a questionnaire on sleep, anxiety level, stress, depression, and weekly sports practice (frequency and intensity). The researchers then divided the volunteers into 5 groups: “no sport”, “1 to 30 minutes per week”, “31 to 90 minutes per week”, “91 to 150 minutes per week”, “more than 150 minutes per week”. Only 27% of the volunteers met the WHO recommendations with a practice of more than 150 minutes per week (2.5 hours).
As a result, “those who practiced less than 2.5 hours of sports per week were overexposed to depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders”. In total, 48% of volunteers not practicing sports reported frequent migraines (more than 25 episodes per month), compared to 28% in patients practicing 2.5 hours per week. “Regularly practicing sports can relieve the daily lives of migraine patients,” confirms Dr. Dyess. This is an important point as treatments are not always enough to alleviate pain on their own.
