For its 20th matchday in Régional 1, Avenir Foot Lozère defeated Rousson (3-2).
Avenir Foot Lozère secured a valuable victory in their quest to avoid relegation by beating Rousson 3-2.
While the first half for the Lozère team was rather successful, the second half raised concerns. The match started well, with Barbut scoring the opening goal on their first opportunity. Positioned on the left side, he delivered a powerful shot that landed in the top corner of Ritas’ net (1-0, 5th minute). Rousson timidly responded with a header over the crossbar by Diaby from a corner kick (17th minute).
On a feared outcome: AFL did not face much worry from their opponents, and Ndour tested Ritas after a good play with Barbut (26th minute). Ndour and Barbut, a duo that later shined. Barbut outpaced Hamadache in the penalty area, and the Rousson defender fouled, resulting in a penalty. Ndour converted the penalty to give his team a two-goal lead (2-0, 37th minute).
In response to the second goal, the visitors had a great chance as Correia hit the crossbar with a header from close range (39th minute).
At halftime: But just before the break, a defensive error from Rousson benefited the Mendois. Ndour intercepted the ball and passed to Fumadelles, who scored with a deflected powerful shot (3-0, 44th minute).
In the second half, AFL lost control and allowed Rousson back into the game. Diohoré scored first after a good cross (3-1, 66th minute), and then added a second goal off a perfect through ball (3-2, 74th minute).
The final 15 minutes felt long for AFL players, especially when Elock scored with a header from a midfield free-kick in the 92nd minute. Despite the late scare, AFL secured the important win, maintaining a five-point lead over Béziers with six games remaining.
