Alliance Sport Alsace – Poitiers: 80-86

It was a crucial meeting for the Poitiers, engaged in the race for the Elite 2 playoffs. Facing them, a direct competitor: the Alliance Sport Alsace, just behind in the standings. Both teams had the same record (18 wins out of 31 games, a success rate of 58.1%), occupying the sixth and seventh places, with the common ambition of qualifying.

Both teams had shown solid performances in the previous round. On Tuesday night, the PB had achieved a prestigious victory over Orléans (92-90), a top 5 team, at Saint-Éloi. On the other hand, the Alsacians had won at home after a thrilling match against Denain (93-92), another contender for the playoffs.

In this context, the trip to Gries was a real clash. Much more than just an away game: an opportunity to break into the top 5. It was clear that this trip to Alsace, while still without Samuel Idowu (disc herniation) and Imanol Prot (hamstring), was not going to be an easy task for the Poitiers. It was also a reunion for Marcus Gomis with his former club, with whom he had reached the playoffs final last season.
