Déjà was victorious twice this season 3-0 against France Avenir, Royan first contained Nowaczyk’s attacks at the net; Pasquier defended a smash from Mouth, with a diving save by Bonnefoy (5-7), but France Avenir responded and equalized with an ace from Respaut (8-8, 10-10). Royan was struggling before Lallemand took control of the net. A block and a slow down of an opponent’s smash led to a point (10-14). Two attacking faults brought France Avenir back (13-15) but Bonnefoy’s strong block, followed by a left-handed attack finding the angle, allowed his team to pull ahead (14-19, 15-22).

Un 3e set plus accroché

France Avenir didn’t see a chance for a comeback; not even in the second set where Lallemand’s serving caused trouble for the opposing reception (5-9). A series of faults widened the gap to 6-13. RAVB was in control (11-20) and easily took the set (15-25). However, the young players from the National Center didn’t give up. They fought in defense, made fewer mistakes in serving, and were more effective in attack, raising their level of play to challenge Bonnefoy and his team (12-12, 19-19).

Nowaczyk continued to excel at the net. He broke through the Pirates’ defense at 21-19, 23-21, and gave France Avenir two set points. A missed serve by Louchet (24-23) gave Kofane the opportunity to unsettle the opposing reception, with a smash from Bonnefoy and a block from Varier for the win (24-26). In three stages, Royan turned the game around and avoided overtime. The leaders will face Saint-Quentin on Saturday, April 18 (8:00 PM) for a top-of-the-table clash and the chance to definitively distance themselves from a direct rival.
