Regional Para-Athletics Championships in Saint-Renan on Saturday from 9:30 am
For its twentieth anniversary, Ha Plejadur hopes for a new harvest of regional podiums in adapted sports, this Saturday, April 11, 2026, almost at home. It is indeed at the Ty Colo stadium in Saint-Renan that nine members of the association linked to the ESAT de Ploudalmézeau will take part in the regional para-athletics championships. “Last year, in Vannes, we brought back 19 medals!”, recalls their coach, Isabelle Bodénès, very proud of her team.
The high point of the season
Every Tuesday, most of the 33 licensees, aged 18 to 66, follow the multidisciplinary training sessions of the section (athletics, basketball, petanque, football, rugby). This meeting in the land of Iroise is a highlight of the season for a group motivated like never before. “We like to travel in numbers to these championships, which are the last of the season, because then we cannot afford to go to the national finals,” explains Valérie Gerves, president of the association. This time, no long outing, but we will probably have some audience to encourage us in the stands, which is also good.
With the organizing club, Stade Brestois Athlétisme (three participants), Ha Plejadur will represent North Finistère against competition from Briec, Saint-Brieuc, Tréguieux, Vannes, and Rennes. The goal is to shine on the track during the 100m, 400m, 1,500m walk, or 3,000m events, as well as in shot put and vortex throws, using a foam rocket instead of a javelin. “We go there with a spirit of competition, but above all to have fun,” announces Isabelle Bodénès. See you at the end of the day to count the medals.
* While parasport is dedicated to athletes with a motor or sensory disability, adapted sports are for practitioners with mental, cognitive, or psychological disorders. Both sections are represented at the Paralympic Games.
