Another equipment is expected on the Plaine des jeux d’Idron: the training center. Here too, the evolution will be gradual, in collaboration with the new municipal team: “If the municipality continues the work of the old team, they must deliver a building by the end of June 2027,” projects President Bernard Laporte-Fray.
In two steps, and from next season, Pau FC will use “intermediate” buildings, as specified by “BLF”. This will allow Pau FC to open its training center during a blank year, at the end of which it hopes to obtain federal approval and the accompanying financial aid. During this time, another structure will be built or refurbished by the city, and made available to the club for future years. Regarding the players’ accommodation, it will be at the Prytanée, while the municipal fields or those adjacent to the Nouste Camp will serve as training grounds.
“We have quite strict protocols to follow,” indicates Bernard Laporte-Fray. “We will start with 20 kids who will be housed and schooled. We will also need to find two qualified trainers, a doctor, and a part-time physiotherapist,” he adds.
The annual operating cost is estimated at one million euros for the club. “We are working a lot on this project, and if it goes well, and we obtain approval, we will benefit from some aid. This training center will allow us to attract young people under 18, which is currently impossible for us. Ideally, we will truly start in the 2027/2028 season,” he concludes.
