The Sports and Leisure Association will celebrate its 30th anniversary with its annual evening on Saturday, April 11, a highly anticipated event that will bring together members, volunteers, and residents for a warm and friendly gathering. Since its creation in 1996, the association has continued to evolve. “We started with two gym classes per week in the first year, and now we offer up to seven classes in 2020,” said President Christine Daval, who has been leading the organization since its inception.
The association has established itself as a key player in local life, offering a wide range of activities accessible to everyone from teenagers to seniors: muscle strengthening, gentle gym, zumba, line dancing, and more. These disciplines attract participants each week in a convivial, dynamic, and caring atmosphere at the community center. Affiliated with the Federation of Rural Community Centers and connected to the Gard branch based in Saint-Genies-de-Malgoires, the association fully engages in local community animation and social cohesion. In addition to sports activities, Sports and Leisure regularly organizes events open to all village residents. These highlights, such as the annual New Year’s Eve party or the flea market, help strengthen social cohesion and combat isolation. Deeply involved in local life, the association also participates in solidarity events such as the Kiwanis bowling tournament or the Duchesses March in support of breast cancer awareness, as well as volunteering with other associations like the Jurassic Trail. This anniversary evening will be an opportunity to look back on three decades of commitment, thank volunteers, and celebrate the values of conviviality and sharing that define Sports and Leisure’s identity.
