On the field in Léry (D2), the La Vallée de l’Oison team (D1) squeezed through a tight spot to secure their qualification in the 8th round of the Armand Mandle Eure Cup (0-1).
Right from the first minute, Maxime Bochard hit the post with a crossed shot. Then, Oison created numerous chances, especially by Anthony Dufort, whose attempts were stopped by the excellent goalkeeper. In the 36th minute, Medhi Atmani also missed a one-on-one opportunity. After Hamdi Benzdira hit the crossbar (42nd minute), ESVO’s dominance was finally rewarded with a poorly judged shot by Benjamin Mismaque (0-1).
In the second half, the visitors, unable to step up their game, faced significant pressure from a determined Léry team looking to turn the tide. Despite some close calls, Romain Gouley’s vigilance prevented a worse outcome with a strong save and a won duel against the attacker (76th minute). Despite another shot hitting the crossbar by Medhi Atmani in the final seconds, La Vallée de l’Oison qualified through a narrow margin (0-1) for the 8th round.
Reaction on the hot seat:
Stéphane Andrzejczak (Oison’s coach): “It was difficult. We will only remember this qualification against a brave team that gave their all, unlike us. It’s a worrying assessment before the upcoming challenges where we need to raise our game to stay at the top of the table.”
Next up, on Sunday, April 12 at 3 pm, they return to the championship with a match against Pont-Audemer. A tough match is expected between two promotion contenders.
ES VALLEE D’OISON: Gouley, Huré, Gelle, Berniere, Mulette (substituted by Manounou), Benzdira (captain), Lefevre (substituted by Henine), Mismaque, Atmani, Dufort, Bochard.
