Sports car: a huge accident narrowly avoided in Japanese Super Formula

Luke Browning almost caused a huge accident in the pouring rain in the Japanese Super Formula. The English driver did not see the yellow flag and avoided another car at the last second.

An accident that could have been much more serious in the Super Formula, the Japanese single-seater championship this Saturday. Former Formula 2 driver Luke Browning, supported by the Williams F1 team, did not see a yellow flag, indicating to slow down due to an incident ahead on the track, that had been waved just in front of him.

The Briton, whose visibility was greatly reduced due to the amount of water falling on the Japanese track, continued to accelerate while his two competitors in front of him logically braked. Seeing them only at the last second thanks to their flashing red lights, Browning squeezed between them, not without damaging the left front wheel of Zak O’Sullivan, also a former Formula 2 driver.

An accident reminiscent of another

The 24-year-old driver then went into a spin before managing to regain control of his car, partly on the grass. The Englishman did very well, the collision with O’Sullivan could have been much more violent if he hadn’t had that reflex at the last second.

This accident is reminiscent of another, also involving Luke Browning at the beginning of the season, where he lost control of his single-seater in pouring rain. He crashed into a tire barrier at such a speed that his car took off and flipped before landing the wrong way up.
