Two days before the clash between AS Monaco and OM, Habib Beye gave an update on his team in a press conference.
After two weeks of international break, Ligue 1 resumes this weekend with a big match to close out the 28th round between AS Monaco and Olympique de Marseille on Sunday (8:45 pm) at Stade Louis II. In this match, Habib Beye will be notably without his top scorer Mason Greenwood.
“We have Mason Greenwood, who is still injured. He is in a rehabilitation phase and should resume training next week. This proves the impact he had was significant (against Lille),” said the Olympic coach about his English striker, who was suspended for this match in the Principality.
“It’s a tough blow,” admitted Amine Gouiri, who was present at the press conference with his coach. “He is the team’s top scorer and contributes a lot to the game. But there are players who can step into that role. Then, replacing him is different, but I think we have the quality to cope without him.”
Kondogbia picked up an injury in training.
“For Nayef Aguerd, he will be back today, things are going well. Leo Balerdi is more of a precaution, we will have him fully at training tomorrow,” then revealed Habib Beye, casting doubt on the presence of his two defenders.
However, the former Rennes coach confirmed the absence of Geoffrey Kondogbia, who had found regular playing time under his guidance. “He injured his thigh this week in training,” he specified. It is worth noting that OM is currently third in the league, with just three points ahead of ASM (6th).
