UNTOLD (The Dark Side of Sports) : Netflix documentary series returns for a sixth season

Sex, drugs, and attempted murder… The sports documentary series on Netflix, Untold (The Dark Side of Sports), is gearing up for its grand return this spring with four new explosive films, airing every week starting from March 31. To kick things off, the platform tackles one of the most heartbreaking stories in American sports: Lamar Odom’s descent into hell.

Since its inception, Untold has established itself as the benchmark for sports documentaries on Netflix. Created by the Chapman and Maclain Way brothers, the series has built its reputation by uncovering the hidden aspects of American professional sports: the NFL quarterback Steve McNair’s murder, the historic 2004 brawl at the Palace between the Pistons and the Pacers, and Jake Paul’s controversial transition to a boxer. These are stories that go beyond the field, told in the first person by those who experienced them. The new season promises to maintain this standard, with four new episodes airing every Tuesday.

Lamar Odom, the story of a medical miracle For its opening episode, Untold chose to focus its cameras on Lamar Odom, a tragic and fascinating figure in American basketball. A two-time NBA champion in 2009 and 2010 with the Los Angeles Lakers, Odom was an outstanding power forward capable of doing it all on the court. But in 2015, he was found in a completely different setting: unconscious at the Love Ranch, a brothel near Las Vegas, after a cocaine overdose.

The medical report is chilling. Kidney failure, twelve strokes, six heart attacks, artificial coma. A survival that doctors themselves struggle to explain. “All my doctors say I’m a true walking miracle because it is medically impossible to survive 12 strokes and six heart attacks while being in a coma,” the former player told USA Today. “I take things day by day and I am more than grateful to be alive.”
