RÉGIONALE 1 (Round of 16)
Montech vs. Maubourguet, Sunday, at 3:00 pm, in Montech (Launet stadium). Referee: Mr. Thomas Tornel (Occitanie)
The season for Montech, led by David Byrnes and Benoît Zanon, former professionals from USM, has been a success so far. The team dominated the championship during the qualifying phase (15 wins and 3 losses), earning them first place in the group and direct promotion to Fédérale 3. They also won the final of the local trophies of Régionale 1 at Sapiac. Now, they enter the final phase of the Occitanie championship. Playing on their home turf at Launet stadium, in front of their fans, it’s unlikely that they will stumble. The team must now aim for a new title step by step, starting with the round of 16 on Sunday against Maubourguet, a team known for taking the playoffs seriously. As they are not the favorites, the visitors have nothing to lose. This marks the beginning of the knockout phase for Montech.
PROMOTION RÉGIONALE 1 (Round of 16)
Racing Montauban vs. Condom, Sunday, at 3:00 pm, in Montauban (Robert-Lacaze). Referee: Mr. Vincent Van Nuvel (Occitanie)
Montauban’s team performed better than Condom in the qualifying phase of Régionale 1. Both teams are now in the final phase of Promotion de Régionale 1, starting with the round of 16. Racing Montauban previously lost in the final of the Terroirs Trophy in Tarn-et-Garonne at Sapiac against Montech, who was promoted to Fédérale 3. The goal now is to win against Condom at the Robert-Lacaze stadium to keep the adventure going and gain experience in crucial matches. Coaches Julien Lacombe and Youn Sallé are expected to motivate their team to pass the first round of the final phase and avoid underperformance.
PROMOTION RÉGIONALE 2 (Playoff)
Villemur Fronton vs. Lauzerte Quercy Pays de Serres, Sunday, at 3:00 pm, in Villemur-sur-Tarn (sports park). Referee: Mr. Denis Caussanel (Occitanie)
Lauzerte passed the first round of playoffs and the final phase by defeating Puylaurens last Sunday. The team, led by Aurélien Fioretti, faced challenges in the first round but hopes to gain confidence from it. They will now face Villemur Fronton in the second round of playoffs, hoping to continue their positive momentum. Despite being in the same qualifying group, Lauzerte finished only 1 point behind their upcoming opponents. Lauzerte seems confident, having won both matches against Vignals (35-28) and Fronton (19-17) this season.
PROMOTION RÉGIONALE 3 (Playoff)
L’Honor de Cos vs. Laloubère, Sunday, at 3:00 pm, in Léribosc. Referee: Mr. Hacene Agoune (Occitanie)
In the first playoff match last Sunday, Laloubère, led by captain Alex Paulet, secured a victory against Villefranche-de-Rouergue. L’Honor-de-Cos, who had a better ranking in the qualifying phase, had a bye for the first round. The team, captained by Kévin Mouliérac, needs to bounce back after their recent home defeat. Playing at home is an advantage, but the match against Laloubère will still require close attention. Support is expected to be high among the fans.
