The Japanese animation cinema fascinates and gains popularity among the French public every year. In Paris, fans of this film genre and the curious alike will be delighted to learn about a large retrospective titled Japanime Mania happening from August 30, 2025, throughout the year 2026 to rediscover the best of the films from the Ghibli studios.
Three cinemas contribute to this retrospective every Sunday at Mk2 Bibliothèque in partnership with the Centre Pompidou, Mk2 Odéon, and Mk2 Gambetta. Masterpieces by Hayao Miyazaki, Goro Miyazaki, and Hiromasa Yonebayashi are screened on the big screen in theaters. This is a unique opportunity to rediscover “Howl’s Moving Castle,” “Castle in the Sky,” “Ponyo,” “Tales from Earthsea,” “My Neighbor Totoro,” “The Boy and the Beast,” and many other films.
The Studio Ghibli was founded in the 1980s by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, with “Castle in the Sky” becoming their first official film. They aim to reach audiences of all ages by producing high-quality feature films that continue to touch viewers worldwide. Will we see you at the movie theater on Sunday?
