Through their roles as first ladies, Brigitte Macron and Melania Trump have had several opportunities to meet. The wife of Emmanuel Macron had notably shown herself to be inseparable from her American counterpart during the G7 held in Biarritz in August 2019. Since then, the two women have maintained a close bond, as confirmed by Regine Mahaux, the official photographer of Melania Trump: “I think she has a very beautiful connection with Brigitte Macron,” she revealed on the CNews program on January 27, 2025.
Melania Trump takes care to maintain ties with the French First Lady, inquiring about her well-being from the photographer: “They are always very interested. Every time we meet, they ask how France is doing, how things are.” These connections are confirmed by both First Ladies. In a documentary titled “Melania,” available on Prime Video, the two first ladies appeared close during a video conference interview.
As of Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Brigitte Macron will be at the White House alongside the President of the Republic, where she will meet Melania Trump. The two women enjoy regularly exchanging on issues that concern them, particularly the issues surrounding child protection. During an interview broadcast in the documentary dedicated to the American First Lady, they did not hide their complicity. “Hello Melania! I’m so happy to see you,” Brigitte Macron said.
They then discussed their respective commitments in protecting young people from the digital world: “What I would like, Melania, is that we focus on prevention. I need help, let’s build something together.” Melania Trump asked Brigitte Macron to work on an international program called “Fostering the Future Together.” The response from the French First Lady left no doubt about her enthusiasm to collaborate: “With pleasure, I will go anywhere with you. We are connected on many subjects.”

The friendship between Melania Trump and Brigitte Macron has grown over the years. But the two presidents’ wives quickly felt a connection. They even left aside the protocol between them. Brigitte Macron stated in the magazine ELLE in August 2017 that she calls her American counterpart “by her first name.” She also found Donald Trump’s wife to be “touching.” This opinion does not seem to have changed over the years.
